What is an LMN?

A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a brief letter from your OB/GYN or primary care provider stating that postpartum doula care is medically necessary for your recovery. Cooings provides a pre-formatted LMN template — your provider fills in your name, recovery context, and signs. Most providers sign and return the template within 48 hours, and your FSA/HSA administrator accepts it as eligibility documentation.

The doula we connected with through Cooings was incredible. She understood our needs, respected our family's culture, and provided amazing lactation support. I never felt alone in my postpartum journey.
